ABOUT EXPRESATE

  • Expresate is a private speech and language therapy practice serving the areas of Johnston,Wake and Durham counties. 

  • Expresate Speech Therapy focuses on speech and language therapy services for children ages birth to 18 years. We specialize in high quality bilingual therapy to Spanish-speaking and/or bilingual children with diverse hearing, speech, and language impairments.

  • Services are provided in their natural environment, such as home, daycare and preschool.

Virginia Ramos, MEd.,CCC-SLP

Virginia Ramos is the owner and founder of Expresate Speech Therapy, PLLC. She is originally from Cali, Colombia. She earned a Masters of Education in Communication Disorders from North Carolina Central University and obtained a Bachelors in Psychology from North Carolina State University. She is a certified bilingual speech language pathologist (SLP).
She is licensed to practice speech language pathology in North Carolina and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence  (CCC) by the American Speech and Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Virginia has experience working in a variety of settings, such as daycares, preschools, homes and a private clinic. She enjoys the most working with bilingual children in their natural environments while developing relationships with them and their families. Virginia lives in Garner with her husband and three boys. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking and being outdoors.

Nathalie Vargas-Rivera

Nathalie Vargas-Rivera obtained a Bachelors of Speech- Language Pathologist Assistant
from the Carlos Albizu University, Puerto Rico. She earned a Master’s Degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Carlos Albizu University, Puerto Rico.She is registered to practice speech language pathology assistant in North Carolina. Nathalie is originally from Juncos, Puerto Rico.She is a certified in infant and toddlers. She is licensed to practice speech and language therapy in North Carolina. Nathalie has more than eight years of experience working in a variety of settings, such as day care centers, schools, homes, and a private clinic. She most enjoys working with bilingual children in her natural environments while developing relationships with them and their families. Nathalie lives in Fayetteville with her husband and her daughter. She likes to enjoy time with her family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoys the company of her pet and loves cooking.

Viviana Galindo,
MEd.,CCC-SLP

Viviana is a bilingual Speech and Language Pathologist graduated from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina. Viviana obtained a Bachelor's degree in teaching foreign languages in Colombia, where she is from. Viviana has experience in developing plans that are tailored for each child, their cultural roots, and their family. She has worked with children and adults with a wide variety of speech and language needs. Viviana recognizes the importance of early intervention and providing families with the necessary tools for children to develop to their full potential. For this reason, Viviana joined the Expresate team to provide quality services to Hispanic families who need help with their children's speech and language. Viviana resides in Raleigh with her husband and in her spare time she enjoys playing sports, biking, doing crafts, learning new things, and dancing.

Daniel Mendenhall
MS.,CF-SLP

Daniel obtained his Master of Science in Communication and Disorders from North Carolina Central University and previously obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Global Studies from UNC Chapel Hill. While he is originally from Lexington, North Carolina, Daniel had the opportunity to study,teach, and work abroad in Uruguay, Colombia and Nicaragua between obtaining his degrees. He loves the unique fusion of language and personal service that exists in speech language pathology and is looking forward to working with clients and their families. Daniel currently resides in Durham with his wife. He enjoys running, music, and anything outdoors in his free time.

Jaquelin Perez
BS.,SLP-Assistant

Jaquelin graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Science and Disorders. She is passionate about working with children as a speech language pathology assistant, who can motivate and connect with them. She has experience working in schools and daycares. Jaquelin is bilingual. She speaks both English and Spanish fluently. Jaquelin has experience with children with autism, intellectual disabilities, and delays in receptive and expressive language. In her free time, Jaquelin loves to spend time with her family and loves to take part in outdoor activities!

Emmie Tozier
M.S. CCC-SLP

Emmie is a certified speech pathologist with a Masters in Speech Language Pathology from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Bachelors in Linguistics and Spanish. She has several years of experience in the Triangle area working with bilingual children and adults in a variety of settings. Emmie is passionate about bilingual language techniques, second-language acquisition, and getting to know the people she works with to personalize her therapy approach. Originally from Charlotte, NC, Emmie has lived and traveled throughout Latin America as a student and as an adult. She lives in Raleigh with her husband, Nick, and enjoys traveling, running, and painting.

Cynthia Dovers
BS., SLP-Assistant

Cynthia Dovers holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education from Utah State University. She is dedicated to serving the Hispanic community and raising awareness about resources for children facing communication challenges. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Cynthia has worked with infants and children in childcare settings. Originally from a small rural town in Oklahoma, she relocated to North Carolina with her husband, Rob. In her leisure time, Cynthia enjoys outdoor exploration, baking, and quality time with loved ones.

Layra Gonzalez
BS., SLP-Assistant

Layra is a bilingual CF speech-language pathologist passionate about helping children communicate effectively to build meaningful relationships and succeed in their future endeavors. She graduated from Albizu University and brings a unique perspective to her work, having been born in Cuba but raised in Miami and now residing in North Carolina. Outside of her career, Layra enjoys exploring new hiking trails, indulging in woodwork projects, and crafting personalized gifts for her loved ones. Her dedication to improving the lives of children through communication is evident in her approach to her work and her commitment to ongoing learning and development in her field.

Maria Paula Vargas MS.,CCC-SLP

Maria Paula was born and raised in Bogota Colombia where she studied Speech Therapy. After that, she completed a master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology and an Advanced Certificate in Pediatric Dysphagia from New York Medical College.

Maria Paula is an ASHA certified SLP, with active licenses in North Carolina and New York. She loves working with children, providing language and feeding services, with a holistic and individualized approach based on the specific needs and abilities of each child. She loves including movement and sensory strategies in each session. Maria Paula has experience in different settings such as daycares, home-based therapy, outpatient services, and hospitals for both children and adults. She loves nature and painting in her free time.

Ana Choto
Referral Coordinator

Ana obtained a Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration. She is originally from Popayan, Colombia. She has worked within the speech therapy field for over 14 years as an interpreter, clinical manager and now a referral coordinator. She is pursuing her degree as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant from The Lady of Elms College. Ana lives in Clayton with her husband and 4 children. She enjoys spending time with her family, the beach, and woodworking.

Melyn Gonzalez
Manager

Melyn is the manager, billing specialist, and co-owner of Expresate Speech Therapy, PLLC. Melyn earned a Master of Art in Professional Music, an IT degree, and a Visual Basic Programmer degree from Havana, Cuba. He currently resides in Garner, North Carolina with his wife and boys. Melyn enjoys music, playing basketball, technology, and playing FIFA.
